Trainers require Adventure Sync feature turned on in order to record walked distance to hatch eggs while the game is not on screen or completely closed. Distance walked for hatching an Egg in an Incubator is measured by GPS distance and location changing, not by movement or number of steps. Gameplay can carry on as usual when hatching an egg. If Trainer does not have any available Incubators, they can either buy one from the in-game shop or wait until an Egg that is currently in an Incubator hatches and thus the Incubator will be available to use again. Super Incubator A purple one that may be used three times and will shorten the walking distance required to hatch an egg by 33%. They cannot be obtained by spinning the Photo Discs at Gyms or PokéStops.
